Phones/Electronic Device Policy

As with many other homeschooling co-ops throughout the country, we too at The Schoolhouse Network have observed an increasing challenge with smartphone use during class time and educational activities. Despite our commitment to creating engaging, interactive learning environments, students have been consistently distracted by electronic devices, including:

• Scrolling through social media
• Using smartphones “under the table” during instruction
• Accessing potentially unsafe applications like Snapchat
• Disengaging from critical learning moments

Policy Guidelines:

• Strict Prohibition: Smartphones and personal electronic devices are strictly prohibited during Schoolhouse Network activities and classes.
• Exceptions:Device use is permitted ONLY: When explicitly authorized by a teacher for specific educational purposes
  • For high school research activitiesWhen directly integrated into curriculum (e.g., music apps in guitar class)
• Enforcement: Any parent, teacher, pastor, church leader, or director may confiscate a device if the policy is violated. Confiscated devices will be returned directly to parents at the end of the day

We kindly request your partnership in enforcing this policy. As a Christian homeschool community, we are united in our goal of creating meaningful, distraction-free learning environments where our children can grow intellectually, spiritually, and socially.

This policy is not about punishment, but about protection and preservation of our educational community. We believe that by working together, we can help our children develop:

• Respect for instructors
• Active listening skills
• Meaningful social interactions
• Focused learning habits
