Class Summary: The reason the class size is so small (15 max) is due to the Socratic nature of the course. A highly engaging, conversational, “questioning” way to learn US History where students will create cherished memories with their peers as they study the subject matter together in community. Class covers standard timeline of pre-Americana, Constitution, State History (students will know all State Capitals from memory) and American Presidents with emphasis on group discussion and presentation. Light daily homework will be assigned, to be covered later in class. Some pop quizzes (with prizes) and two major tests which place class participation on an equal level with “pen and paper testing” will occur throughout the school year. Very fun, upbeat, conversational class which also incorporates one major banquet where US History comes to life with food planning and prep, cooking and serving parents and siblings an historical-era meal.
